Pills Found in Shawty Lo’s Possession at Time of Death
Shawty Lo died in a car accident on Sept. 21. Today (Oct. 17), TMZ reports that the ATL rapper had pills on him at the time of his demise.
The "Dey Know" rapper's cause of death was blunt force to the head from the crash, which ejected him from the vehicle. During the autopsy, the Fulton County Medical Examiner also found a prescription bottle on him labeled "promethazine." However, the container held Percocet and Vicodin pills, not syrup. The medical examiner also tells TMZ that the body bag emitted a strong smell of alcohol.
In another strange twist, the medical examiner says the two females in the car with Shawty Lo at the time of the crash asked the police on the scene if they could take a bunch of cash out of the rapper's pockets. Allegedly, the cops let the women take Shawty Lo's money. The girls left behind "around" $16, according to TMZ.
Shawty Lo, real name Carlos Walker, was 40 years old and is survived by 11 children. He is perhaps best known for the aforementioned 2007 hit “Dey Know,” which peaked at No. 31 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and as a founding member of D4L, who rose to prominence in 2005 with their hit “Laffy Taffy.” Lo last released “Put Some Respek on It” in late April, which was supposed to be featured on a forthcoming mixtape.
At the time of death, Shawty Lo's manager tweeted out, "My brother has passed he is no longer here but his spirit, his kind heart, and his music will live on Long live Shawty Lo King of Bankhead."
