A shooting at the 'More-4-Less' connivence store on Broad Street Sunday Night has lead to the arrest of 3 men, as well as 3 attempted 2nd degree murder charges, and a fourth man hospitalized in an Intensive Care Unit.

According to a press release issued by Deputy Chief Mark Kraus, on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at 6:58 p.m., the Lake Charles Police Department received a complaint of a shooting at More-4-Less, located at 1407 Broad Street.

Responding officers arrived to find one man on the ground unconscious and another man shot and a third man bleeding from the cut of a machete.

According to Kraus, 19-year-old Matthew Taylor Simien entered the More-4-Less located at 1407 Broad Street and shoplifted from the store.  As Simien exited the store, manager, Amirik Thind, and store clerk, Dilrajpal Singh, ran after Simien.  Once they were outside, Thind and Dilrajpal confronted Simien and 19-year-old Quincy Paul Landry.  “A fight started between the four men, resulting in one man being beaten unconscious with a wooden stick, two men cut with a machete and a third subject being shot.”

“Officers learned that Landry pointed a firearm at both Thind and Dilrajpal as they beat Simien with their fist.  Dilrajpal armed himself with a large wooden stick striking Landry in the head causing him to lose consciousness.  Simien then struck Dilrajpal and Thind with a machete while Thind was using the wooden stick to strike Landry who was on the ground unconscious and defenseless.  Simien picked up Landry’s firearm and shot Thind who continued to strike and beat Landry while he remained unconscious.”

Three of the four men needed medical treatment. Two of the three subjects were treated for minor injuries and released.  Landry who was found unconscious on the ground when Officers arrived is still hospitalized in a local Intensive Care Unit.

The manager and clerk have been placed under arrest for one count of attempted 2nd degree murder, while Matthew Taylor Simien was arrested for shoplifting and attempted 2nd degree murder.  The three men have been booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center.
