Dr. Conrad Murray Trial

The verdict in the Michael Jackson case is in. The jury convicted Dr. Conrad Murray on charges of involuntary manslaughter, meaning he was found guilty of the charges against him. All 12 members of the jury found Murray guilty, and he now faces up to four years in jail and the loss of his medical license.

There's one thing for sure this has been a speedy trial.  If all stays on track, jurors could reach a verdict by Friday.  The defense has rested it's case and is now preparing for closing arguments.

Monday was a rough one for the defense, as their most important expert witness was held in contempt of court and even fined $1,000.  Dr. Paul White, an expert in Propofol repeatedly violated the court's orders to refrain from testifying about private conversations with Dr. Murray.

The prosecution rested it's case and now Murray's team will attempt to make theirs.  After some four weeks and 33 witnesses the prosecution hasn't made it easy for the defense.  Some how, they have to prove that Michael killed himself and paint a picture of Dr. Murray being a competent doctor.

After a two-day break Wednesday the trial continued with the procecutions last witness Anesthesiology expert Dr. Steven Shafer.  Wednesday he took to the stand and looked the jurors in the eyes and said Dr. Murray committed 17 clear violations of the standard of care and is directly responsible for Michaels death.

Thursday sleep doctor, Dr. Nadar Kamanager took the stand again and had some harsh words for D. Murray.  Calling his treatment of Michael "Inconceivable", "Unethical", and "disturbing".  The sleep expert told prosecutors Thursday that D.e Murray used Michael as his own personal guinea pig for dangerous medical experiments.

In the latest developments, Murray's lawyer Ed Chernoff said in his opening statements that the defense will now go on to claim that Michael didn't drink the lethal dose of Propofol, rather he injected himself instead!  What????  They are actually changing their defense mid trial.  The new claim is probably a good idea though beings that their own independent study found that swallowing Propofol w

Yesterday, the Conrad Murray trial resumed and the jury got a chance to listen to the remaining portions of the recorded interview the doctor had with police after MJ's death.  As adamant as Dr. Murray is about Michael giving himself the lethal dose of Propofol that killed him, the doctor who carried out his autopsy is just as adamant that, that would have been impossible.

Friday was another big day in the Conrad Murray trial.  The jury got an ear full, as they listened to half of a dramatic 2-hour interview between the doctor and police.  In the interview, Murray admitted he pumped Michael full of sedatives before he died.

Dr. Conrad Murray was back in court yesterday for day 6 of his involuntary manslaughter trial.  Autopsy results have shown that Michael Jackson died at age 50 from an overdose of the anesthetic propofol and other sedatives.  Dr. Murray had been taking care of him and said he gave Michael a dose of propofol as a sleeping aid on the day he died and has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter.
