Just a heads-up, the Internal Revenue Service announced Monday, the 2022 tax filing season begins early. IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig said. “The pandemic continues to create challenges, but the IRS reminds people there are important steps they can take to help ensure their tax return and refund don’t face processing delays.” To help avoid delays this year's tax season will begin 17-days earlier than last year on January 24. The deadline to file is going to be April 18 or requesting an extension till October 17.

Rettig also suggested avoiding further delays make sure you report the right amount if you received a Child Tax Credit or COVID-19 relief Economic Impact Payment last year. To report the accurate amount, recipients can see the amount they received by going to IRS.gov. KPLC reports the IRS is going to send out letters to recipients of the impact payments and the advance Child Tax Credit payments, to assist with filling the right amount.

In addition, taxpayers should consider going digital and doing away with a paper tax return. He urged that taxpayers file their returns electronically and get their refunds via direct deposit.
