Bring your pup, decked out in their Halloween best, to the annual doggie trick-or-treat event in Lake Charles. This is always a great bonding opportunity to have with your four-legged buddy. I've brought my boys, and they had a great time last year.

The Bark du Lac dog park in downtown Lake Charles is an excellent location for the annual Howl-O-Ween Doggy Dress-Up Day.  I had fun dressing my boys in their wacky costumes! Diesel was an elephant, and Coco was a dragon. They were too cute! Speaking of costumes, dogs and their owners are invited to compete in the Howl-O-Ween Costume Contest for prizes.

There are three categories: Look-A-Like, Best Dressed, and Most Tricks. So that everyone has a good time. Here are the rules for the event.

  • All dogs must be up-to-date on vaccinations.
  • All animals must be on a leash
  • No aggressive dogs
  • Owners must clean up after their pets.

Of course, they didn't care much for costumes. But they sure had a ball getting out of the house and meeting other dogs at the park! So, it's a fun event for everyone in the family. This will be the second annual Howl-O-Ween Doggy Dress-Up Day presented by the City of Lake Charles Recreation and Parks Dept. The City of Lake Charles, through its Partners in Parks Initiative, is teaming up with Gill Bright Animal Hospital to host this tail-wagging Halloween event.

See the event flyer below for more spooktacular details about the upcoming event:

Does your loyal pup's breed make the list? Read on to see if you'll be bragging to the neighbors about your dog's intellectual prowess the next time you take your fur baby out for a walk. Don't worry: Even if your dog's breed doesn't land on the list, that doesn't mean he's not a good boy--some traits simply can't be measured.
