Jackie Robinson Day is every year on, April 15, commemorates a traditional event celebrated by the MLB and baseball fans across the country. It's a special day where all MLB ballparks, all players, managers, and umpires wear Robinson's uniform #42. It is a time to honor his baseball debut in 1947 on Opening Day at the Brooklyn Dodgers at Ebbets Field. This was the first time in baseball and American history, that an African American played in a Major League Baseball game.

This year is the 75th anniversary of the baseball great breaking the Color Barrier. Jackie Robinson Day. It was initially started on April 15, 2004, by Major League Baseball as a way to recognize the player that ended more than 80 years of baseball segregation and his amazing career. His wife Rachel Robinson is still celebrating her husband's legacy through the Jackie Robinson Foundation. She will also be 100 years old in July! Mrs. Robinson has led quite accomplished life as well being a former Professor, a Registered Nurse, and the author of two best-selling books 'Without My Mother's Love' and 'Jackie Robinson: An Intimate Memoir'.
