Do You Remember Playing With These Toys Lake Charles?

What did play with when you were a kid? I spent a lot of time alone, so my childhood is full of memories based on my collection of toys! I played with Barbie and skateboards, went skating, had big wheels, played with my LEGOS, rode dirt bikes, and played with marbles.l By the way, I had a mean jacks game too!

The 70s & 80s toys were the best! I always had a can of LEGOs. Man, I could play with those things all day long. Back then, we didn't have computers and cell phones like kids do today. We used our imagination. That's what I did as built my new LEGO mansion and car! We had toys!

I had a Cabbage Patch doll collection and, of course, a fleet of Barbies and the one Ken doll. I even had those little green army men! Seriously. Who didn't have a View-Master? Toys were my thing! Etch-a-sketch, Rubik's Cube, and UNO too. You name it. I had it.

Toys have been a big part of everyone's lives. Just look at all the movies made about them. "Barbie" is kicking butt right now at the box office. So far, the film has earned more than $1 billion worldwide, according to Comscore.  An extraordinary accomplishment for a movie directed by a woman, Greta Gerwig, just 17 days after its release!

The movies have brought some of our most cherished childhood toys to life. For people 50 and over, they were our source of entertainment. Some of the most popular toys and games have turned into blockbusters on the big screen. From Toy Story and Trolls to LEGOS, Care Bears, and more. Hollywood has made some major dough off of toys.

Is it me, or did toys from back in the day seem to be more durable? We had cool toys in the 70s & 80s. They were tough to break. I could remember washing Barbie's hair, blow-drying it, and everything. Somehow it bounced right back. Try that with today's dolls. The hair turns into a plastic mess. For some reason, today's toys seem flimsy, and they don't last long either. LEGOS were thick and impossible to break. Today they are much thinner and more brittle.

I was an only child for 13 years growing up, so I was always by myself. No complaints because I had my toys to keep me company and a very vivid imagination to boot. Surfing the net recently, I came across some "do you remember" toy posts, which inspired me to do this post. It just reminded me of the fun I had.
