Three People Trampled, Hospitalized After Fans Rush Gates at Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival: Video
Travis Scott fans got a little too anxious for his 2019 Astroworld Festival and started a stampede that left at least three people hospitalized due to injuries sustained after being trampled.
The festival is going down on Saturday (Nov. 9) at Houston's NRG Park. However, before the event started, a large group of fans jumped the gate and started a stampede. Travis posted fan-captured video of the moment things went left on his Instagram page. In the video, a few people jump over a barricade that separates them from the street. After a handful of people risk it all, the entire group follows and the street is quickly flooded with what looks like hundreds of people.
"DA YOUTH DEM CONTROL THE FREQUENCY," Travis commented on Instagram. "EVERYONE HAVE FUN. RAGERS SET TONE WHEN I COME OUT TONIGHT. BE SAFE RAGE HARD. AHHHHHHHHHHH."
Unfortunately, a few people were injured during the stampede. Three people were taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital for minor injuries they suffered when the crowd rushed the park, reports Houston ABC13.
The Houston Police Department is out working the festival and tweeted about upholding the safety of the event, which is slated to be attended by over 50,000 people.
"We are successfully working together to support Houston's biggest music festival @astroworldfestat @nrgpark and collaborating closely with the festival to ensure the public safety of everyone attending the event. We look forward to a memorable night," they posted.
The show continued despite the alarming start. The festival lineup for this year's event includes Migos, Marilyn Manson, Pharrell, Rosalía, Young Thug, Playboi Carti, Gucci Mane, DaBaby, Megan Thee Stallion, Houston All Stars, Young Dolph, Key Glock, Sheck Wes, Pop Smoke, Don Toliver and Tay Keith.
Travis Scott started the Astorworld Festival in 2018. Last year's festival featured performances from Young Thug, Post Malone, Lil Wayne, Trippie Redd, Rae Sremmurd, Metro Boomin, Gunna, Sheck Wes, Smokepurpp, Tommy Genesis and more.
