Bun B’s Wife Says UGK Archives Are Destroyed Due to Hurricane Harvey
The effects of Hurricane Harvey continue to be felt throughout the area of Houston, Texas, and now, Bun B's wife and Pimp C 's widow share news that the archives of UGK material have been lost as a result of the flooding.
On Wednesday (Aug. 30), Bun B's wife Queenie posted a message revealing Pimp C’s son was stuck at his grandmother’s house in six feet of water. In the caption of the photo, Queenie also revealed everything that was left of the UGK archives was now gone. It’s uncertain what was included in the archives. Chinara Butler, Pimp C's widow, also reposted the photo from Queenie from another account.
"Lil Chad aka Chaddy Boo is still stuck in his grandma house in 6ft. of water. His phone died. He his wife and a 79yr old neighbor 5048 Shevsport Ave," the message reads in the Instagram post that has since been deleted from Queenie's Instagram page.
"Just talk to him and he's on near the reservoir that's overflowing #repost," Queenie wrote in the Instagram caption. "All archives of UGK that was left is now gone. Please be thankful for what you have. Do not complain about anything."
While the loss of UGK memorabilia is sure to hurt, surviving UGK member Bun B is still doing what he can to help the people of Houston. The rapper, along with the group who organized Ariana Grande’s One Love Manchester benefit concert, will be putting a telethon together. The event will air on several major television networks and will also feature Jamie Foxx, who confirmed the benefit on Instagram.
Other Houston rappers such as Trae Tha Truth have also been assisting victims in a more hands-on way. With the help of friends and local fire departments, the rapper recently went out into the flood waters to rescue victims. XXL spoke to Trae about his efforts to assist Houston residents and the impact of the hurricane. “I had to evacuate also,” he tells XXL. “I mean, it’s just a stressful situation in general because I’m at a point now I don’t even want to think past today or tomorrow of doing what need to be done. When the dust settles, that’s when it’s really gonna sink in, when people have to think about what’s their next move.”
