Congratulations to Principal Ronnie Harvey Jr., the faculty, staff and the entire student body of Washington Marion Magnet High School(WMH)!  Principal Harvey was selected as the Louisiana High School Principal 2022 at the 15th Annual Excellent Educators Awards, co-sponsored by Dream Teachers. ”It’s truly about the kids, because I was that kid 21 years ago at this actual school" Harvey Jr. said of his exciting accomplishment. The shining example in education, gave credit to his high school mentor former WMH Principal Madelyn Miller.

The celebrated educator told the American Press, “I don’t think it’s really hit yet." Adding that winning the award still feels surreal. Learn more about Principal Harvey below!

Friday’s July 16 award ceremony was virtual, but Principal Harvey was able to celebrate his win with family, friends and students even though the Dream Teachers ceremony was virtual. He was the guest of honor at his own surprise watch party, hosted by Calcasieu Parish School Board and various members in the community. Below see the 15th Annual Excellent Educators Awards Gala live stream of the Louisiana Teachers and Principals Awards and join the celebration of all the winners across the state. Special congrats go out to the overall 2022 Louisiana State Principal of the Year, Marco French and 2022 Louisiana State Teacher of the Year, Annelise Cassar Tedesco!

You can bet Principal Harvey already has his eyes set on the upcoming school year, with big plans to build upon education excellence at Washington Marion High School. A couple of months ago Ronnie Harvey Jr. was a Dream Teachers finalist for exceptional educators. Headed into his 4th principalship, today he is Louisiana's High School Principal of The Year!

Way to go Principal Harvey! Congratulations, you absolutely deserve it!
