One thing I really look forward to is going to my local gym and sweating out yesterdays drama or problems. When I go to the gym now, I work out with my trainer Walter and a friend of mine Mr. Bernard. Not only am I getting a workout, but a special bond has been created as we motivate each other to push for that last rep or mile.

Of course I remember the first time that I went to the gym and thought I would take a second to offer a little advice to those looking to make that first step to a new you. Now the misconception that many believe is that you have to be overweight or out of shape to go to the gym. When in fact a lot of folks go just to look or feel better about themselves. Honestly some of the guys go to the gym to look at the ladies, but many are there to talk sports, daily conversation and some create lifelong friends.

When you make the decision that you are looking to join a gym, call around and check out prices. Once you do that see if there are options for a trial membership so that you can see if this is the gym for you. Don't try to go in there and tackle everything at one time. All you have to do is take your time. If you have never ran, then start off with a slow walk and see if you  can up the pace a little. If you find yourself getting winded, then take a break and call it a day. There is an old saying that Rome wasn't built in a night and neither will that perfect body that you are trying to get.

If you feel like you need some help then ask the gym if they have personal trainers on hand to assist you. While the prices may vary, once again you may be able to get a trial run to start you off. If you feel like you can't afford a personal trainer, get familiar with the world of social media. There are plenty of great sites that will will help you whether you are a beginner or veteran to working out.

I believe that biggest thing to remember is that it will take time. You should not be in a race to lose weight because you may end up doing something wrong. If you fall off the wagon, don't beat yourself us, simply get back up and proceed forward. I have been on my journey for over 10 years now since I have been here in Lake Charles and I can tell you that it is a job. I have lost a lot of weight and I have picked up just as much.

My biggest motivation is my family. While it is important to me, I want to be here for my family and will go to the gym continuously to become the person that I know that I can be. The first thing you need to do is get started and if you are looking for some familiar gyms here in the Lake Area, I have supplied some for you below. Good Luck!
