Southeast Tourism Society voted the Lake Charles Red White Blue & You Celebration, one of the “Top 20 Events” in the state going on in July. The annual event jumps-off, Saturday July 1, at 5:30 p.m. with the Southwest Louisiana Patriot’s Ball, presented by the Mayor’s Armed Forces Commission. The City of Lake Charles is inviting all surrounding areas businesses, and organizations to join in on all the fun. Tuesday, July 4th, come out for a full day of Independence Day activities for the entire family. The City of Lake Charles is currently accepting entry forms for the annual 4th of July Parade. All participating parade units are encouraged to sport the customary red, white, and blue star-spangled colors and decorations.

Acceptable parade units include floats, vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, golf carts and marching units. The parade will begin at 6 p.m. and the route is as follows - Ryan Street, to Mill Street, ending on Dr. Michael DeBakey Drive. Immediately following the parade, head back the Lake Charles Civic Center Arcade Pavilion, where the 4th celebration continues. First things first, get a good parking spot for the fireworks extravaganza going on later that night. After you find the perfect spot, starting at 6:45 p.m., enjoy a wonderful patriotic program featuring: a salute to the U.S. Armed Forces to include performances from Jairus Daigle & the Jazz Kats, the Lake Charles Community Band, a sing-a-long with Louisiana Choral Foundation and friends. In addition to live performances, they'll be plenty of concessions, face painting and more.

In the event of inclement weather, the event will move indoors to the Civic Center Coliseum. Hopefully the weather will cooperate. With all outdoor activities audience members are reminded to bring insect repellent, lawn chairs, wagons for the kids, and blankets. Complimentary flags will be given away, and commemorative 2017 Red, White, Blue & You t-shirts will be sold for $5.

At 9:15 p.m. the fireworks extravaganza will get underway. If you will be near a radio tune-in to 92.9 The Lake, and listen to a special soundtrack simulcast.
