Earlier this week Curtis "50 Cent” Jackson made headlines when he posted a video to social media of 19-year-old Andrew Farrell in Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport. Farrell is an airport janitor who suffers from autism. Jackson mocked and accused the young man of being high on drugs while at work in the video. People who knew the young man, and others on social media immediately let Jackson have it for his insensitive post.

The “Wanksta” rapper issued a statement to the NYPost’s Page Six on Tuesday, May 3.

While the incident at the airport resulted from an unfortunate misunderstanding, I am truly sorry for offending the young man. It was certainly not my intent to insult him or the disability community, which is a source of great strength in America. I have apologized personally to him and his family.”

According to TMZ, Jackson is trying to make amends after he donated $100,000 to Autism Speaks, and issued an apology.

"I want to turn this misunderstanding into an understanding. There are people that are ignored, mistreated and neglected with disabilities that need our support.” - 50 Cent

A threat of legal action in the amount of a $1 million lawsuit was reported, but attorneys for the family said they would be satisfied with a "sincere apology" from 50.

“The family only wants a sincere apology from Mr. Jackson,” wrote attorney Matthew J. Hammer. “The Cincinnati area loves Mr. Jackson and his work and I think it can only be mutually beneficial if he is willing to offer an apology to Andrew and his family.” - Page Six

EFFEN Vodka has since spoken out about their concern over the incident, following a boycott of a company sponsored event in Cincinnati.

Good to see 50 Cent taking an effort to write his wrong, hopefully this humbles him furthermore.
