As part of the REAL ID ACT, passed by Congress in 2005, it establishes minimum security standards for state-issued Driver’s Licenses (DL) and Identification (ID) cards that can be used for official federal purposes.
What Does It Look Like?
It looks just like a regular state-issued driver's license or standard ID; the difference is that a REAL ID has a gold circle with a star cutout.
