There are only 187 licensed driver ed providers across the state that are officially recognized by the OMV Training and Certification Unit.  The new online resource being offered through the OMV website, www.expresslane.orgprovides info on who and where they are.  This in turn allows parents and new drivers to verify that the driver ed provider they chose, meets all the standards and certifications.  Because if they don't, applicant's will not receive a learner's permit or new license.

The Louisiana OMV recognizes the importance of proper driver ed and parental involvement in the licensing process.  This endeavor is effort to protect young drivers and reduce the number of teen serious injured or killed in crashes across our state.  The OMV has also published the Driver Education Information page on its website outlining the driver ed process and all the requirements.
In addition, last year the LA OMV and State Farm teamed up to establish the Parent’s Supervised Driving Program.  As part of the program, parents will receive a free guide with a ton of information and lessons on driving basics, parental pointers, an explanation of the Graduated Driver’s License Program and much more.  Best of all this program is free and includes the printed curriculum that is distributed at Louisiana OMV licensing centers when teens get their learner’s permit.
Parents and teens are also invited to connect with the program through social media, and on the Road Ready mobile app.
The OMV Certified Driving School verification page and the Driver Education Information page, and several other driving advocate websites and resources, can be can be found at www.expresslane.org.  Just chose the Commercial Driving School Information under the Driver Services menu.
