Monroe, Louisiana native Lloyd G. Wade will be a part of the Black Heritage Gallery. He will have The Art of Lloyd G Wade Melanin, in the Canvas on display next Saturday, August 14 at 2 p.m. and will also return on September 14 at 2 p.m. There will be a meet and greet with the artist and it is free. There is a mask mandate that will be in place for the event.

Here is a little background about the Louisiana native and artist whose talents were first discovered by his 5th grade teach who found his notebook full of cartoon drawings. It was through this teacher (Ms. Dimmer) that he was recommended for enrollment into the Louisiana Gifted and Talented arts program. Lloyd has a great academic track record as he has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Southern A&M College in Baton Rouge, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of Art Institute in Chicago, Illinois.

While art is truly his craft and specialty. He has been an educator for the past 15 years and he currently holds the position of Art Department Chari at Thurgood Marshall High School in Missouri City, Texas. Make sure you are in attendance for a special meet-and-greet with him this Saturday at 2 p.m. presented by The Black Heritage Gallery at the Old Courthouse 1000 Ryan Street in Lake Charles on the 2nd floor
