Black Heritage Art Gallery Opens Exhibit Featuring Art By Lake Charles Student Kamea Comeaux
The Lake Charles Black Heritage Art Gallery will host a new exhibit this June entitled, “Collection No. 1.” This is an exciting and inspiring exhibit that will feature the original art of Lake Charles native, Kamea Joy Comeaux. Click here, to see more of her works.
Comeaux is a graduate of Sam Houston High School and currently an honors student pursuing a Bachelor in Fine Arts, at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge. The talented artist was among the first students to be awarded with a Hearst Scholarship, for incoming undergraduate minority students in the LSU College of Art & Design.
Adding to her growing list of achievements, Comeaux received the Black Faculty and Staff at LSU Certificate of Achievement, for meeting the academic standards of the Black Scholars Award. She is also a member of the Phi Sigma Theta National Honor Society, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and Calcasieu Parish Talented Artists Program.
Don't miss a chance to see her magnificent works of art. In celebration of the Kamea Joy Comeaux exhibit, there will be a free reception open to the public on Friday, June 3, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Come out and show your support. The “Collection No. 1 ” exhibit will be featured at the gallery through July 25, 2016. The Black Heritage Art Gallery is located at the Central School Arts & Humanities Center, at 809 Kirby Street in Lake Charles, in suite/room #207. The Gallery hours are Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
