I am over joyed to announce that Mattel, makers of legendary doll Barbie are coming out with a one-of-a-kind doll made in the image of Disney superstar Zendaya!  Best known for her current role in Disney's K.C. Undercover, the 18-year old made headlines when she stepped out on the red carpet at this year's Oscars.

Well to be clear, she was on point and wore her hair in locs with a gorgeous gown to complete her look.  Little did the young star know she would soon be at the center of a heated debate surrounding her "look."   Fashion Police, host Giuliana Rancic’s racist comment about Zendaya's hair style set social media on fire and caused a huge uproar when she said: “I feel like she smells like patchouli oil and weed.”

Yet when Kylie Jenner rocked some dread extensions for a photo shoot, Rancic raved about how chic the locs were saying it was "edgy and trendy."  Ironically, Rancic is recovery from cancer...and throwing stones???

Her co-host Kelly Osborne is Zendaya's friend and took major offense to the comment. So much so that she threatened to quit the show in 24 hours if the creators didn't make it right.

Rancic would regret her ignorant comment and to this day continues to receive massive backlash for what she said.  She did apologize but it was to little, to late because people were already feeling some type of way.  Not to mention, she more than likely wouldn't have been so sorry it no one said anything.  For what it's worth, listen to her apology below.

So whatcha think?  Was it sincere or no?  Zendaya dropped some jewels on her though, and I must say her response was classy.  The young star put the self-proclaimed fashion critic in her place and issued and pretty lengthy, but intelligent, mature and professional response.

Below is an excerpt of what the Disney actress/singer clapped back and on Instagram:

“There is already harsh criticism of African American hair in society without the help of ignorant people who choose to judge others based on the curl of their hair.

My wearing my hair in locs on an Oscar red carpet was to showcase them in a positive light, to remind people of color that our hair is good enough.”

But back to her new doll.  Shouts out to Mattel/Barbi for stepping-up jump-starting a campaign for ALL little girls around the world.  Taken from the Barbie Rock 'n Royals Movie and soundtrack, which came out earlier this year, Raise Our Voices is not only the movie's theme song but also a movement Barbie has created to celebrate diversity.  See the movie trailer below and the Raise Our Voices official fan video!

Who better to create of doll in the image of, then Zendaya, who offers a positive image for young girls to aspire to be like. The beloved teen star, will have her 2015 Oscars "look" immortalized...locs and all in the form of a gorgeous new Barbie!  No word on when the doll will be available for purchase, but I will keep you posted.
