BJ The Chicago Kid Delivers Soulful Ballads on ‘The Lost Files: Cuffing Season’ Mixtape
Arguably, BJ the Chicago Kid’s debut effort In My Mind was one of the best R&B albums of 2016. Fresh off his three Grammy nominations, the Motown artist is delivering more soothing music for the soul.
On Wednesday (Dec. 14), BJ released a new mixtape called The Lost Files: Cuffing Season. The collection is perfect for bedroom romancing and cuddling with your significant other. The nine-song tape features his ode to the late soul icon Marvin Gaye, “Uncle Marvin,” which he just debuted a stylish music video for it.
Other standouts include the melodic "On My Way to Your Heart" where BJ affectionately applies for his lady's heart. "I'm a diligent worker," he says, "my speciality is overtime...and I only work for you." On "Make Love," the Chicago rhymer pleads with his lover for a sexual bout in the bedroom. BJ then lets his voice shine on the piano-driven wedding song "Plain," and finally, he channels Marvin Gaye again on the orchestral soul ballad "Sweeter Everyday."
Cuffing season is definitely in full effect and BJ the Chicago has created the perfect soundtrack. Check it out above.
