A Florida man was unsuspectingly killed by an alligator, in an attempt to hide after police were despatched to the neighborhood he was burglarizing. Hours before Riggins’ attempted break-in, he called his girlfriend to tell her he would be in the Barefoot Bay community to burglarize homes, said WTSP.

The partially eaten body of 22-year-old Matthew Riggins was found near Barefoot Bay, in Brevard County, Florida on Nov. 23.  When the dive team attempted to remove the remains for the water they encountered an aggressive 11-foot alligator, said WTSP.

There was trauma to the mans body that led investigators to believe he was dragged underwater by the gator. A trapper was called in to humanely euthanize the large reptile.

Hours before Riggins’ burglary attempts, he called his girlfriend to tell her he would be in the Barefoot Bay community to burglarize homes, said WTSP.
