UPDATE: On Thurs., Jan. 24, TMZ reported that Chris Brown had officially filed a defamation lawsuit against his rape accuser.

ORIGINAL STORY:

On Monday (Jan. 21), Chris Brown was arrested after one woman accused him of rape. On Tuesday, the singer denied the accusations. Now, we know he's planning to take the matter to court.

According to TMZ, Brown is preparing to sue his rape accuser for defamation. Brown's attorney, Raphael Chiche, spoke a bit on the matter with the celebrity news site.

"Chris Brown is free," began Chiche, noting that Brown was released from police custody in France. "No lawsuits were filed against him. He vigorously challenges the charges against him. A complaint for slanderous denunciation will be filed tomorrow with the public prosecutor of Paris."

There is no word on too much more of the specifics of Brown's impending lawsuit, but this is clearly something he isn't taking lightly. His accuser alleges that he took her to his Paris hotel room before violently raping her.

For his part, Brown maintains that he was surrounded by a lot of people throughout the time the woman claims she was raped. In an Instagram post addressing the rape allegations, Brown maintained that he was innocent.

In the caption for the post, Brown wrote, “I WANNA MAKE IT PERFECTLY CLEAR…… THIS IS FALSE AND A WHOLE LOT OF CAP! NNNNNNNNEEEEEEEEEEVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEERRRRRR!!!!!! FOR MY DAUGHTER AND MY FAMILY THIS IS SO DISPRESPECTFUL [sic] AND IS AGAINST MY CHARACTER AND MORALS!!!!!”

While there hasn't been too much said about the status of potential charges against Brown, TMZ's sources say local authorities believe that the fact that the singer was allowed to leave custody means authorities are having a "hard time" with the case.
