We all want to get out this morning to survey the damages left in the aftermath of Hurricane Delta, but it's not advisable right now. It'd be best to wait for the roads to be checked and cleared, especially if you evacuated and are considering coming into the area to check the status of your home.

At the very least, you run the very real risk of puncturing one or more tires and getting yourself stuck. Many roads in the area are not currently navigable, but if you insist on trying to drive around SWLA this morning, it's a good idea to know which ones to avoid.

To that end, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office began posting updates to their Facebook page early Saturday morning regarding road status, providing updates at 2:00am, 3:00am, 5:00am, 7:00am, and 9:00am, which we provided here. We have updated this article to provide the latest and final update.

According to Sheriff Tony Manucso, "Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputies have completed initial assessments and it is safe for residents of Calcasieu Parish to return to their homes. Please be cautious due to flooding and debris in the roadways and be sure to check on road closures before you return.”

Sections of most major roadways in Lake Charles are impassable, along with several others in Moss Bluff, Westlake, Iowa, Bell City / Hayes, Sulphur, DeQuincy, Starks, and Vinton. You can view the full listing below, or visit CPSO's Facebook page.
