DJ Durel and Migos “Hot Summer” Video: Watch the Trio Go Old School
The Gabriel Hart-directed visual takes a play from Spike Lee's book and reenacts a scene from his 1989 film Do the Right Thing, complete with Durel giving a nod to one of the movie's most pivotal characters, Radio Raheem. Rapper-comedian Fatboy SSE joins in on the fun as the trio play up the single's title on a block full of beautiful women on skates and children playing in the street. VHS shots give the video more of an old-school feel.
Quavo provides the hook and first verse on "Hot Summer" before Takeoff and Offset deliver their respective bars. "It's a hot summer, baby, I upgrade you from that Honda/Kids under the anaconda, but this ain't Willy Wonka/She don't freeze in the summer, get a weave by the bundle/Stayed down for the come-up, bought a crib for her mama," Takeoff spits. On the third verse, Offset raps "Shawty I'ma player, don't hit in the daylight/'72 Chevelle with my wife is all white/Summertime with them summer dress look right/Let me get inside, take you to the next life."
Migos just finished up the New York leg of their Aubrey and the Three Migos Tour. Days after releasing their latest track, "Is You Ready," the Atlanta trio brought out Cardi B to perform her verse off their 2017 hit, "Motorsport."
