Drake Shares Title and Release Date for His New Album
Uh oh! It looks like we have more chune for our head top coming this summer from Drake.
On Monday (April 16), the rap star hopped on Instagram to make the big announcement by way of photo. In the pic, Aubrey stands with his back to the camera. The jacket he's wearing sports the words "Scorpion," "June 2018" and "by Drake."
In a follow-up post, he uploaded a picture of a gold pendant with the image of a scorpion. The captions of both photos are "June 2018." So it looks like we have about two months before we get the new project from the OVO head honcho. Though he doesn't write it specifically in the caption for the post, he's been teasing the new album for several months.
The title is assumed to be a reference to the Scorpio, which is Drizzy's astrological sign since he's born on Oct. 24.
Announcing his Scorpion album now is as a good a time as ever. What is presumed to be the lead single off the project, "God's Plan" is currently one of the hottest songs in the country. Last week, it became the the rapper's longest leading Billboard Hot 100 hit with 11 weeks in the No, 1 spot. His 2016 Views single, "One Dance," held the previous record at 10 weeks. The week prior, the 6 God became the only male leading act with two 10-week runs atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
In what can be seen as a win-win, his newest release "Nice for What," recently dethroned "God's Plan" for the top spot on the charts. This marks Drake's fifth No. 1 hit.
