The following events begin Friday April 11th 2014 and carry on through Sunday April 13th

DOWNTOWN LAKE CHARLES CRAWFISH FESTIVAL

For the best food Louisiana has to offer, you've got to go to the Downtown Lake Charles Crawfish Festival, which officially opens tonight from 5pm-10pm.  This festival is all about eating, especially Louisiana's favorite bud bug....Crawfish.  If you don't eat fish or seafood, no worries there are tons of food vendors on site to satisfy anyone's taste buds.

Don't miss the parade beginning at 6:30pm From Bor Du Lac Drive onto Lakeshore Drive North across to Mill Street ; From Mill Street., take a RIGHT on RYAN St., continuing across Broad St. to CLARENCE St. Take a RIGHT on CLARENCE St., and continue to BORD DU LAC Drive onward to the Civic Center.

LOUISIANA RAILROAD DAYS FESTIVAL

  • Louisiana Railroad Days Festival is a three day event, taking place April 10, 2014 - April 12, 2014.  This is a festival for the entire family and it's free admission and free to park as well.  Best of all it is an alcohol free festival, complete with carnival rides for all ages.  For more details click here DeQuincy Railroad Museum.
  • This festival is taking place in Dequincy, LA, Thursday 5-11 p.m., Friday 3-11 p.m. and Sat. 10 a.m.-midnight.

Movies Under the Stars is a free event that's open to the public. Each event date will begin at dusk around 7:00pm at Prien Lake Park in Lake Charles, LA.  Seating is first come first serve and residents are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs, blankets and refreshments or purchase snacks on-site.  On April 18th see “Steel Magnolias and April 25th “Despicable Me 2”.  For more details click here.

MCNEESE BANNER SERIES PRESENTS: KENYA SAFARI ACROBATS

Live at the Burton Coliseum 7:30PM-9PM, don't miss the Kenya Safari Acrobats.  This is an event for the family and people of all ages.  Come see the talented acrobats from Kenya and enjoy their amazing stunts and comedy filled skits.  For more info on tickets and additional Banner Series shows click here.

THE 107 JAMZ 2ND ANNUAL POWERADE 3 ON 3 BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

If you love basketball, this is the event for you!  Another event for all ages and free to the public.  The 2nd annual Powerade 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament will feature more than 25 basketball teams from Lake Charles and surrounding areas, with players ranging from ages 7-17.  Don't miss all the action!  Door open at 8 am and the first game gets underway at 9 am.  For more details click here.

 GRAND LAKE FAITH TEMPLE 'REDEEMER' EASTER MUSICAL

Celebrate the meaning of Easter with a meaningful performance at the Grand Lake Faith Temple Saturday and Sunday April 12-13 at 6:30pm.  This event is free and open to the public and for more details click here.

CITY OF LAKE CHARLES EASTER EGG HUNT

Bring the little ones and their Easter baskets to Drew Park for the first city Easter egg hunt of the season!  This event is going to take place at Drew Park from 4pm-6pm Saturday April 12th.  By the way there's a ton of other area Easter events, for even more details click here.
