Unfortunately, when something like a hurricane hits, we have people who tend to prey upon others during these times. This is mainly because most people evacuate and power tends to be affected because of strong winds and damaging weather.

This is one of the reasons why there is a mandatory curfew put in place to deter those who want to do wrong from doing so. I have noticed the police presence has truly been upgraded since Hurricane Laura, and rightfully so. There have been looters who have broken into homes and there have also been many reports of generators being stolen.

There are obviously exceptions, like those who are in transition to work. However, if you are walking neighborhoods in unlit areas, this may be cause for being questioned and possibly arrested. The current curfew is from 7:00pm until 6:00am. Make sure you are safe, and keep in mind we are all going through this together. If you are looking to take advantage of your fellow neighbor, that is not a good look and simply sad.
