Update:

Following news that he sent Travis Scott a cease-and-desist letter after being unhappy with his vocals on the Astroworld track, "Carousel," Frank Ocean is setting the record straight.

"I think the song sounds cool, I did it in like 20 minutes and the mix sounded the way Travis wanted it to sound for his record," Frank wrote on Tumblr. "I also approved it before it came out so the cease-and-desist wasn't about [speaker emoji]. It was about [rainbow flag emoji]. Me and Travis resolved it amongst ourselves weeks ago."

Travis also confirmed the that issue is water under the bridge, captioning a picture of a Blonded Tour shirt on Instagram, "Someone I call family and always will. Has taught me a ton. And a true inspiration in an out of the Stu Gang."

Original Story:

Frank Ocean isn't happy with how he sounds on Travis Scott's new album, Astroworld, TMZ reports today (Sept. 14). According to the report, Ocean's legal team has sent Scott a cease-and-desist letter demanding the singer be removed from the project's song "Carousel."

The track, produced by Hit-Boy, features a hook and verse from Frank, who reportedly didn't approve of changes made to his vocals after they were recorded. Sources told TMZ that the creative disagreement started before Astroworld dropped and is escalating after Scott refused to change the song.

Scott's project debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in August. Many of Astroworld's songs charted, too, including "Carousel," which peaked at No. 24 on the Hot 100. That would make it Ocean's highest-charting single, if he remains on the song. (Calvin Harris' "Slide" featuring Ocean and Migos peaked at No. 25.)

Both Ocean and Scott have been navigating separate legal battles in recent months. Frank sued producer Om'mas Keith for claiming songwriting credits on several tracks on his 2016 album Blond. Keith subsequently countersued.

Travis, meanwhile, filed a countersuit in August over a fan who was reportedly paralyzed at his April 2017 show at Terminal 5 in New York. The rapper denies any responsibility for the fan falling from a third-floor balcony.

We've reached out to both artists' attorneys for comment on the reported cease-and-desist and will update when we hear back. You can listen to Travis Scott's "Carousel" featuring Frank Ocean below.
