Gingerbread House Contest Winners On Display

While your enjoying the Christmas Holiday, be sure to visit the Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau, located at 1205 N. Lakeshore Dr.  Every year during the "Light Up The Lake" Christmas celebration residents participate in the Gingerbread House Contest.  It's become quite a big deal and the houses just keep getting bigger, better and more detailed.

As you can imagine, that made picking a winner very difficult.  After much debate judges were able to choose this years winners on Saturday, Dec. 5.  Awards were given to winners in a variety of categories from amateur to school groups, and even professional bakers.

Now through December 31, the winning gingerbread houses will  on display at the bureau's Welcome Center. So stop by and see the sweet treasures and marvel at all the hard work that went into creating them.  By the way, residents and tourists are invited to vote on the gingerbread house they like the best in both the children and adult divisions.
