Week one of the college football season is already in the books. It wasn't a great weekend for Southwest Louisiana football fans. Fans of McNeese and LSU saw both of their teams lose their first game of the season.

LSU fell to #8 Florida State 45-24 while McNeese lost to Tarleton State 52-34. Both teams now start the early season at 0-1. For the McNeese Cowboys, the road to their first victory of the season doesn't get any easier this Saturday.

The Cowboys will travel to take on the Florida Gators in Gainsville, Florida better known as The Swamp. The Gators is part of the SEC East and their head coach Billy Napier is the former head coach of the Ragin' Cajun of Louisiana Lafayette which is right down the road from us here in Lake Charles.

The Gators didn't fair so well in their season opener either. The Gators faced then #14 Utah and lost the game 24-11 to start their season at 0-1. The Gators will host the McNeese Cowboys in Gainsville this Saturday night, September 9th, 2023.

The game is set to kickoff at 6:30 p.m. and the game is going to be televised live on national television.  The game will be aired on the ESPNU channel. If you won't be by television, you can listen to all the McNeese football action starting at 5:30 pm over the air at 92.9 FM, the 92.9 Mobile App, and 929thelake.com/listen-live
