Things To Know About The Saints First Pre Season Game This Weekend
Football is just around the corner and the New Orleans Saints are getting ready to kick off their 2023 campaign. You can get a little taste of Saints football on Sunday as the Saints will play their first Pre-Season game of the year.
Typically, Pre-Season games are used to get reps for players who are trying to make the Regular Season roster... But, it appears Dennis Allen may allow the starters to play some during the early pre-season games according to Yahoo Sports.
“Yeah, I would expect our guys to play at least in the first preseason game, (then) we’ll see where we’re at,” Allen said after Monday’s training camp practice, following up by specifically highlighting the quarterback situation. “I would expect that we’ll see a lot of (Jake) Haener. We’ll see Derek, we’ll see Jameis, you know, we’ll see Haener.”
That could be a smart method for Dennis Allen and the Saints, especially on the offensive side of the ball with a bit of uncertainty. Derek Carr, though it's his 10th year in the league, it is his first year in the Saints organization. Micheal Thomas hasn't played a full season and has been dealing with injuries for quite some time. So it may be a good idea to get some of the veterans a little work early.
With that being said, Coach Allen has not given an update on HOW LONG we will see each starter, but one could assume a drive or two.
In their first pre-season game, the Saints will take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. The clash between the Kansas City Chiefs and the New Orleans Saints will be played inside the Caesars Superdome, in New Orleans, on Sunday, 13 August 2023, with kickoff at 12:00
