Jay-Z and Beyonce’s Daughter Blue Ivy Carter Gets First-Ever Billboard Hot 100 Song
Blue Ivy Carter is following in Beyoncé and Jay-Z's footsteps quite successfully.
Billboard confirmed Tuesday (July 30) that the seven-year-old has officially nabbed her first spot on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Brown Skin Girl." The song, which lives on the new Lion King: The Gift soundtrack and also features Blue's mom, Saint Jhn and Wizkid, debuted this week at No. 76.
On the track, Blue joins Saint Jhn to sing an ode to brown-skinned women: "Brown skin girl/Your skin just like pearls/The best thing in the world/Never trade you for anybody else/Singin' brown skin girl/Your skin just like pearls/The best thing in the world/I never trade you for anybody else, singin'...
Of course, the superstar-to-be still has a ways to go to catch up to her parents. Momma Bey just nabbed two new solo entries on the chart with the aforementioned "Brown Skin Girl" and another soundtrack cut, "Mood 4 Eva," bringing her tally to 63. She also has 14 chart entries as a member of Destiny’s Child and five as The Carters, taking her combined Billboard Hot 100 placements to 82.
As for Hov, he actually just became the fourth rapper ever in history to earn 100 career solo appearances on the Hot 100 chart, thanks to "Mood 4 Eva."
