Dave Chappelle did a successful job of not revealing who was the secret performer for his Aug. 16 show at New York’s Radio City Music Hall. The veteran comedian held his 16-show residency at the venue and last night his “special guest” was finally revealed.

It turns out that Kendrick Lamar was the night’s performer much to the crowd’s delight. According to Brooklyn Vegan, the Compton native performed a full set of hits including Damn tracks like “DNA” and “Element” as well as fan favorites like “Alright” and “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibes.”

“Kendrick killed it tonight. I must also say it felt good not having access to a phone and actually being in the moment and listening without distractions,” wrote an eyewitness to the concert.

For those who don’t know, Chappelle doesn’t allow smartphones or cameras at any of his shows.

Chappelle is a big fan of K. Dot and his Damn album. He talked to the lyricist for a special piece for Interview magazine. In addition, Chappelle and Kung Fu Kenny will be Rihanna’s special guests at her third annual Diamond Ball event in New York on Sept. 14.

Meanwhile, Chappelle’s Radio City run continues with Chance the Rapper on Thursday (Aug. 17), Childish Gambino on Saturday (8/19), Lauryn Hill on Sunday (8/20), Solange on Tuesday (8/22) and Yasiin Bey and Talib Kweli on Wednesday (8/23).
