Local Agencies, Trash And School Closures For Wednesday, Jan. 17
With the cold weather, sleet, snow and icy conditions local agencies, trash pickups and schools have shut their doors today. This is for the safety of the public and for the kids going to school.
The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury advised that their offices will be closed today due to hazardous conditions on area roadways. Tom Hoefer with the CPPJ said offices are scheduled to re-open for regular hours Thursday, January 18, weather permitting.
The City of Lake Charles City Hall will be closed until at least Noon today. Matt Young with the City of Lake Charles advised that all city services and offices will open at 12 p.m. except for trash and garbage pickup and Transit service. He went on to say,
Trash and garbage pickup will not run on Wednesday, January 17, due to the fact that area landfill operations are closed. Trash and garbage normally picked up on Tuesday will be picked up on Thursday, January 18. Thursday pickups will occur on Friday, and Friday pickups will occur on Saturday this week only.
Schools all over Southwest Louisiana are closed today as well.
