Second Harvest Food Bank in Lake Charles is getting some extra help just in time for the holidays. The longtime food bank feeds hundreds of individuals and families in need. This year the numbers of people in need has doubled. Between the COVID-19 pandemic putting people out of work, to widespread storm damage displacing thousands of residents 2020 has been a very tough year.

The need for a hot meal has never been more critical than now. Help is on the way as community restraint's and WAITR answer the call to feed SWLA residents. Participating food drive restaurants' around the city such as TaD's, CiCi's Pizza, Rolly Polly, Crust Pizza and others will be food collection sites now though December 23. After the deadline, WAITR drivers will collect the food and deliver the goods to the Second Harvest Food Bank for distribution.

The public can get involved too! Look for donation bins at your favorite eatery and drop-off nonperishable food items like: Dried Beans, can goods, pasta, cereal, bottled water, peanut butter, cake mixes and other nonperishables.
