If you like taking the kids downtown to Lock Park, at the intersection of Ryan and 7th Street, you’ll have to put those plans aside just for a week, as the playground is set to close for seven days beginning Tuesday, December 13.

The temporary closure is scheduled to allow for improvements and a play area for toddlers will also be installed during the closure. The playground is set to reopen on Tuesday, December 20. With the exception of the playground, the Park will remain open at its regular hours of operation, from 8:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.

These improvement were made possible by an endowment fund at the Community Foundation of SWLA. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for Tuesday, December 20 at 11 a.m., said a City of Lake Charles press release.
