Throughout the year in Louisiana, there is a festival every weekend. The celebration of music, food, culture, history, and tradition. The holidays are also a special time of year for festivals.

There are 400 Louisiana festivals and events every year. Some are enormous and others are quite small, but who cares about size when there's a celebration going on? All you need is people, music, and of course food.  #FeedYourSoul. Below is a look at festivals in July and August statewide:

  •  Prather Coliseum (220 S. Jefferson St.) at Northwestern State University.
  • Three stages of music - Sonny Gullage and the Blues Groovers, the Forest Huval Cajun Band, Johnny Earthquake and the Moondogs, Brandon Degeyter and The Mire Playboys, and the Zion Harmonizers.  Grupo de Danza Folklórica Mexicana Ketzaly, and a musical patriotic tribute by the Victory Belles performing World War II-era songs in three-part harmony.
  • Louisiana State Fiddle Championship
  • Cajun and Zydeco dance lessons
  • Folk food vendors, exhibits,
  • Traditional blacksmithing.
  • Regional arts & crafts such as Native American handmade baskets, beadwork, and quilts. Czech pysanky eggs and handmade filé will be exhibited during day-long demonstrations.
  • Fiddler Clancey Stewart leading free square dance lessons.
  • Day of the Dead celebrations, music preservation, Native American traditional songs and dances
  • Jambalaya Cook-Off
  • Children 12 and under free -  admitted free.
