The 1st Annual Love My Natural event was a HUGE success.  Make no mistake, natural hair is in and the movement is on the rise.  More and more woman are leaving the perm game behind and going back to their roots.  Literally.  The theme for the special night was, the "Meeting of the Manes."  The brain child behind the night, was Mrs. Marzetta Guillory, owner of The Gathering Place event center in Lake Charles and my sister Beryl Cook and with Families Helping Families.

Love My Natural is group/movement created for the Naturals of Lake Charles and surrounding areas to talk, share and compare info on all things for natural hair.  Women came out in droves and were more than happy to display their beautiful God-given locks.

Saturday's event was priceless in many ways as well.  For starters, it was the first natural hair social in the area, speakers shared their natural secrets (best products to use etc).  Plus natural hair stylist, Angel Purdy, owner of Upskale Beauty Salon in Lake Charles, gave a wealth do's and don'ts and used a client to demonstrate various hair styles, techniques more!

Back in the 80's and 90's there were very few natural hair products to choose from, now there's so many you don't know which ones to use.  Saturday's Love My Natural hair social gave event goers great tips on how to recognize the good from the bad.  We also seen first hand the best ways to condition our hair and which combs and brushes are best.

The were several vendors, I even had my Silpada Jewelry table set-up.  There were hair models strutting their stuff, including my daughter, sister and nephew, music, door prizes and refreshments.  All the models and coordinators of the event rocked the fly fashion from Brown Baby Designs.  We were all loving our naturals and having a ball!

Take a look at a few pics from the event and be on the lookout for the 2nd Annual in the very near future.
