HISTORY OF LSU MASCOT, MIKE THE TIGER
LSU's mascot, Mike the Tiger, is a live Bengal Tiger, whose habitat is across the street from Tiger Stadium. Since 1936, the Bengal Tiger has been a part of the LSU tradition. His two-legged furry costumed counterpart joined the school's football tradition in the 50s.
When LSU’s costumed mascot isn’t on the field at Tiger Stadium hypin the crowd he's at various charity, promotional, and campus events throughout the year.
