Meek Mill’s Attorneys File Emergency Bail Motion in Pennsylvania Superior Court
More than three weeks after Meek Mill was sentenced to two to four years in prison for probation violation, the rapper's legal team has filed an emergency bail motion in Pennsylvania Superior Court.
According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, the motion asks that the MMG rapper gets released on bail immediately, citing the fact that Judge Genece E. Brinkley hasn't responded to any of their appeals as the reason.
As of this filing, more than 10 days after submission [Brinkley] has taken no action—not even to schedule a hearing—on any petitioner’s motions, and in particular not on the bail motion,” reads the emergency petition.
According to the Philly-based pub, this sort of petition usually pops up as a criminal defendant's sort of last resort after they're other appeal options have dried up. Judge Brinkley, whom Meek Mill's lawyer claims has engaged in some sketchy dealings while being in court with the Philly rapper, has 30 days from the date their initial appeal was filed on Nov. 14.
Meek's lawyer says the rapper's in a tough situation because he can't appeal his sentence to the Superior Court unless Judge Brinkley rules on the motions he's filed since his conviction. The motion claims that she's "refused to do so."
There's no real telling how this will play out, but thus far, people have definitely had Meek Mill's back.
