Louisiana State Police Troop D needs help locating a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a pedestrian Monday morning. It's the second fatal pedestrian-related crash in the past five days.
On Monday, November 27, 2017, before 2 a.m., a Moss Bluff woman was struck by a vehicle while "walking along the I-10 westbound on-ramp where it merges onto I-10 just west of Louisiana Highway 397", approximately two miles east of Lake Charles, said a media release. 29-year-old Samantha Marie Broussard of Moss Bluff was pronounced dead at the scene by the Calcasieu Parish Coroner's Office. A routine toxicology sample was also obtained.
While the crash is still under investigation, Troop D is searching for the hit-and-run driver. According to the report, Broussard was likely struck by a car "based upon evidence" at the scene of the crash. The vehicle in question would have heavy damage to the front passenger side.
