A single story duplex fire on 1st Avenue took the lives of a young mother and her 2 children this morning at around 7 a.m.According to the Lake Charles Fire Department, the arrived on the scene to find smoke billowing from the home. After the fire was under control, the bodies of 29-year-old Nina Williams, and here two (2) sons, 4-year-old Darion Williams, and 2-year-old Mikoh Williams, were discovered in a remote bedroom.

The fire is believed to have started in the living room, the windows in the bedroom were painted and nailed shut.

Nina Williams made a 911 call to report the fire in her home and was coughing uncontrollably. According to a press release, preliminary findings site high levels of carbon monoxide associated with smoke inhalation, responsible for the death of the three.

There were no functioning smoke alarms found in the home. The cause of the house fire is still under investigation. We will keep you updated as we find out more.
