The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury has announced that the popular movie series 'Movies Under the Stars' will return for one night only this Fall in Lake Charles.

The Police Jury announced that since the 'Movies Under the Stars' event that was scheduled for October 1st was canceled due to bad weather, they are bringing back the event for one night only this Friday night.

The movie that will be shown will be 1939 classic and version of The Wizard of Oz. Get ready to go down the yellow brick road with your kiddos while enjoying being outside under the night sky.

Calcasieu Parish spokesman Laura Heller describes for us what the movie is about,

This movie is a timeless classic where Dorothy played by Judy Garland and her little dog Toto, are magically transported via tornado to the Land of Oz.

 

There, the duo makes some new friends and they all embark on an adventure to meet with the Wizard of Oz to ask for his help in sending Dorothy back home to Kansas. This movie is Rated G.

The movie will begin at 6:30 pm at Prien Lake Park which is located at 3700 West Prien Lake Road in Lake Charles.

If you are planning to attend this FREE event, you are encouraged to bring your own blankets, lawn chairs, and food. Now there will be vendors on location in case you forget your goodies and the Police Jury will also be handing out free popcorn and cotton candy.
