10 Louisiana Restaurants We’d Love to Eat At Again
Good Lord! I can remember a few places that no longer exist where the food was so good all you could do after eating, was go to bed. Some locations that come to mind bring back memories or were hang-out spots when I was in high school. For example, my mom used to manage Long John Silver's back in the day. Every once in a while she'd bring home the leftover fish that didn't sell when the restaurant closed. The fish would still be hot, but the crumbs were my favorite.
I'm sure everyone has a list of favorite eating spots from back in the day, but over the last decade or so, we've lost quite a few really good restaurants and fast food chains and mom-and-pop locations, I wish they were still open. Like the iconic Paw Paw's restaurant on Martin Luther King Hwy. Who can remember those Po'Boys and side salads? Yummy!
By the way, I came across an old American Press story on the history of the shrimp boat that used to sit in front of the Lake Charles restaurant. It was reportedly built in 1965 by Roland “Bolo” Trosclair of Cameron. It sank sometime in 1970 while in service. Long story short, it was salvaged and reconditioned in 1972 and was moved to the old Paw Paw's Seafood and Steak restaurant on Martin Luther King Highway, where it sat for decades. The boat outlasted the restaurant, which was torn down in 2007.
Then of course, those delicious wings and daiquari's at the House of Soul! Who has been feenin for some good ol Balls Fried Chicken? Those are the restaurants that wish were back in operation again. What restaurants do you miss? Let us know in the comments. In the meantime, here's my top 10 (wish they were still open eateries.)
