Nipsey Hussle was known and respected by people all across the country, as evident in the vigils that took place for him in Los Angeles, Houston, New York City and more in the days after his passing. Apparently, word of his exploits was even known by former Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who recently released a statement about the rapper's death.

Ahmadinejad, who served as the polarizing sixth president of Iran from 2005 to 2013, recently found out about Nipsey's killing, which occurred on March 31. He offered a brief Twitter post about the tragedy on Sunday (April 14). "Was recently informed about the death of @NipseyHussle and I was saddened to hear about his death and the other 10 people killed in Los Angeles last week," he wrote. "How can one take someone's life so easily?"

He even ended his statement with lines from 2Pac's 1993 track "Keep Your Head Up" adding, "Baby Don't Cry Gotta Keep Your Head Up Even when The Road is Hard Never Give Up."

In the wake of Nipsey Hussle's passing, the late rapper has received shoutouts from some surprising places. Former U.S. president Barack Obama wrote an open letter about Nipsey praising the rapper for his positive work in the community.

"I'd never met Nipsey Hussle, but I'd heard some of his music through my daughters, and after his passing I had the chance to learn more about his transformation and community work," the letter begins. "While most folks look at the Crenshaw neighborhood where he grew up and see only gangs, bullets, and despair, Nipsey saw potential. He saw hope. He saw a community that, even through its flaws, taught him to always keep going. His choice to invest in that community rather than ignore it...is a legacy worthy of celebration."
