R. Kelly and the woman he lives with may say she's not being held against her will, but the family of Joycelyn Savage still doesn’t believe it. On Tuesday (Aug. 29), police went to the singer’s home after Savage’s family requested a welfare check.

According to a report from TMZ, Savage’s father, along with other members of her family, arrived at Kelly’s Atlanta home on Tuesday with police units. The move came after the 50-year-old singer denied the family’s request to meet with Joycelyn.

Joycelyn’s father filmed himself outside of Kelly's home, where he could be heard saying, “We in front of R. Kelly house. We trying to check on our daughter, Joycelyn Savage. We gon' do what we have to do… Just want to make sure she’s fine.” The father also had strong words for Kelly, saying, “He a man. He need to come out and let my daughter out. I told him, if he ain’t come to me, I was gon' come to him.”

A woman in R. Kelly’s camp answered the door but said Joycelyn wasn’t home at the time. It’s uncertain if Kelly was present, but police did get a chance to eventually speak with Joycelyn via FaceTime, where she said she was doing fine and doubled down on not wanting to speak to her family.

Joycelyn has denied being held captive before, releasing a video in July saying she was fine. “I just mainly want to say that I am in a happy place with my life,” she said in a video chat with the celebrity gossip site. “I’m not being brainwashed or anything like that. It just came to a point where it definitely has gotten out of hand. I just want everybody to know—my parents and everybody in the world—that I am totally fine. I’m happy where I’m at, and everything is OK with me.”
