According to the Los Angeles Times,   it all started last week during a Los Angeles Clippers game.  Sitting next to L.A. Police Commission President Steve Soboroff, Rihanna decided to take a selfie of the two with his cell phone.

While posing for the pic, the singer dropped Soboroff’s phone, which cracked the screen.  Somebody else snapped a picture of the pair and the image has since gone viral.  Shortly afterward Rihanna went on Twitter to apologize for the mishap saying, “Sorry I broke your phone.”

Reportedly Soboroff wanted to take the photo hoping it would help boost morale after the LAPD lost five officers within the last two months.  In spite of the phone being broken, the veteran officer came up with a plan to it auction off with the Rihanna selfie included.  Ironically, last Sunday Soboroff bumped into Rihanna again at the Clippers game and explained what he his idea to sell the phone on eBay.
