Sabine River Flood Debris Removal Scheduled For Week
Calcasieu Parish Police Jury wants residents affected by the Sabine River flood to know debris pick-up has been scheduled. The Public Works crews will begin removing debris from flood-affected areas this week and intend to complete the process by April 30, 2016. Now is the time for residents to bring all flood debris to the roadside to allow for pickup. If you are a flood victim, be sure contact the parish and make sure your address is on the list of homes with debris.
For more details call (337) 721-3700 and residents are encouraged to call whether or not they have placed the debris on the roadside.
Calcasieu Parish Police Jury reminds all residents affected by the Sabine River flood not to wait for FEMA or insurance reps to inspect damage. Take all the necessary pictures and document any and all damage, but don't wait to clean-up because you have't had FEMA or a insurance representative inspect your property. All residents are encouraged to start debris removal now.
Below is a list of how residents should sort the flood debris and get it ready for pickup:
- Construction Debris (furniture, mattresses, carpets, lumber, drywall)
- Hazardous Materials (oils, batteries, pesticides, paints)
- White Goods (refrigerators, washers, dryers, stoves, water heaters, dishwashers)
- Electronics (televisions, computers, etc.)
NOTE - Household perishable garbage will not be picked up with flood debris.
