‘Sharknado 3′ Is Coming to Dumb-Down Your Summer
The Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! teaser is here, and as you'd expect, it's unapologetically stupid.
As Samuel L. Jackson once said about his cult classic Snakes on a Plane, "the title just puts it all right out there. You either get it or you don't." You'd either love to watch D-list actors take on a weather system full of aggressive sharks, or you think it's a trashy waste of your time. If the latter is the case, we'll leave you to attend your French film festivals and smoke your fancy clove cigarettes while wearing a beret. But if this concept appeals to you (for a third time), then BUCKLE THE EFF UP and watch the teaser above.
Sharknado 2: The Second One set its sights on New York City, where Mark McGrath and a frankly-above-this Judd Hirsch defended Manhattan from subway shark attacks. This summer's sequel brings the titular sharknado a-swirlin' from Florida over to Washington, D.C., where a great white crashes through the Lincoln Memorial to lay in the giant Presidential statue's arms — a clear visual reference to Michelangelo's Pieta. It's all very cinematic.
Ian Ziering — the former Beverly Hills, 90210 cast member who one in the mid-'90s would've elected Most Likely to Be Relevant in 2015 — is back with enormous guns and mogul/Shark Tank investor Mark Cuban in tow. Reid also returns, and acting luminaries Rick Fox and Kendra Wilkinson costar.
The Sharknado trilogy revels in its camp factor, which is what sets it apart from its less intentionally funny high-camp counterparts (Mansquito, anyone?). Plus, as SyFy well knows, it's super fun to watch and tweet along with the viewing public. Get all of your #Sharknado3 zingers ready for the premiere on July 22 at 9/8c.
