The Prien Lake Mall has changed over the decades. So many stores have come and gone since the 80s and 90s like the big department stores White House, Sears, and Montgomery Wards. There used to be a K&B Drug store at the mall too! If you have lived in Lake Charles long enough, your probably trying to think of all the stores that you went to back in the day.

I used to work at my favorite stores when I was in high school in the 80s. It made it easier to shop and a lot more affordable with my discounts. I used to work at Lerner Shops, Brook's, and the Deli. I can't remember the actual name of the little restaurant now, but I'm sure someone reading this can. They had the best hamburgers and french fries!

There were some really good small stores in the Prien Lake Mall too and to be honest I kinda miss a few of them. This picture from a Facebook post says it all! Who didn't love Bob's Old Fashioned Ice Cream? They had the best lemonade on the planet and the square ice cream bars (chocolate dipped with nuts were my favorite)were to die for! Oh, how I wish they would come back.

When I started looking for old pics of the mall, I was surprised to come across as many as I did. Take a look at the ones I found and see if they spark up your nostalgia.

These are just a few stores that come to mind that I miss or remember as being very popular in their heyday. I imagine they closed due to a slow in foot traffic and sales. Strangely enough today, many stores are closing and falling victim to the success of their own apps and online shopping. In fact, many stores in the last two years like The Gap, Baby Gap, Payless Shoes, and Sephora are gone now.

The Prien Lake Mall is constantly evolving. I wonder what stores with take the place of the ones I just listed above? What stores do you miss that are no longer there? Let us know.
