Dave East and Styles P Deliver Epic Freestyles for Funkmaster Flex
Dave East and Styles P strike again. Earlier today (Oct. 25), the two New York City artists reaffirmed their status as top-notch lyricists when they delivered epic freestyles while visiting Funkmaster Flex and Hot 97.
Up first was Styles, who tackled Memphis Bleek's "1,2 Y'all." Unloading his signature grit, the Ghost showcased his storied mic skill. "They ain't tell you that New York is mine/What a awful time, pop his body, then toss the nine/Don't nobody wanna cross the line," Styles spit on the track.
Next up was Dave East, who delivered an energetic freestyle over Prodigy's legendary Alchemist-produced cut, "Keep It Thoro." Attacking the jumpy piano with gritty one-liners and tight rhyme schemes, East more than held his own with The Lox rapper.
"I used to move that dust like a sand storm/Sold smokers optimus dimes and watched 'em transform/I can triple anything I get my hands on/Couldn't hear this shit from nobody, had to be hands on/Violate, it's not gon' be a block safe to stand on/I'm only back in New York until my tan gone," East spit on the beat.
Elsewhere in the freestyle, East drops a few other dope one-liners as Funk Flex and Styles P look on. Don't be surprised to see some of them pop up on your TL.
Styles and East's freestyle session arrives a few weeks after they dropped off Beloved, which is their joint project laced with just the types of bars we heard in this particular rhyme session.
